How your Venus sign is found
Like Mercury, Venus stays near the Sun from our point of view, never more than about 47 degrees away. So your Venus is in your Sun sign or within two signs of it on either side. A Virgo Sun can have Venus anywhere from Cancer to Scorpio.
Venus usually spends four to five weeks in a sign. Roughly every year and a half it turns retrograde, appearing to move backward, and then it can stay in one sign for about four months. If Venus changed signs on your birthday, your birth time decides which one counts.
The house: where love and pleasure show up
The sign describes your style; the house tells you where that style gets used. This site uses whole-sign houses, counted from your Rising sign, so the house appears once you add a birth time.
Venus in the 5th house may find joy in romance, play, art or children. Venus in the 6th might express care through daily work and routines, and may even meet people it loves through a job. Same planet, very different settings.
Venus at home and away
Venus rules Taurus and Libra, signs where comfort, beauty and balance come naturally. It is exalted, or especially well supported, in Pisces, where love can be generous and forgiving. It has to work harder in Scorpio and Aries, the signs opposite its own, and in Virgo, where it can be too critical of itself or others.
A Venus in one of these harder signs still loves deeply. It may simply take more honesty and patience to find what truly fits, and the result is often a very clear sense of what you will and will not accept.
